People always think I’m lying when I say one of my favorite things about a being a people photographer is actually getting to know the couple’s story. There’s something so personal and beautiful about each story I hear that really affirms why I love being a photographer. The more I got to know Joey and Ana, the more I loved them! You might be able to tell this about Joey, but at the bottom of his heart, he’s truly a very romantic guy. Every year Joey tries to outdo the previous year. For example, last year, Joey took Ana and a group of close personal friends for a romantic getaway to Catalina Islands for their wedding anniversary and surprised her with a beautiful ocean-view suite! For this year, the plan was simple: make Ana think she was only going to dinner with some family when in fact, in addition to dinner, she would be enjoying a great Broadway show: Beach Blanket Babylon and a nice romantic photoshoot in the North Beach district of San Francisco. Needless to say, Ana was blown away.

We started our Signature Love Portraits session in front of Club Fugazi, which is home to the Beach Blanket Babylon show. Did some group shots and broke it up to couple shots.

We then moved a block down and took photos in front of this beautiful, rustic brick building with some nice low windows for some great fun shots.

And with a San Francisco Police cruiser parked behind us on the street, who could resist taking a picture with it:

There was also a beautiful (and BRIGHT) yellow building out of nowhere in North Beach that I knew would make for some great shots and it didn’t disappoint:

And finally we ended out shoot with some shots of Patron Silver while I shot the happy couples inside of the beautiful O’Rielly’s Irish Pub. I love shooting inside restaurants and bars especially ones that are as decorative as O’Reilly’s Irish Pub:

Jane and Cutty are such a beautiful couple; so in love with each other. They can literally spend hours together staring dreamily into each other eyes, we know because we’ve seen it. Jane and Cutty first met at the San Francisco Miss Asian American Pageant and have been inseparable ever since. As wedding photographers who love doing wedding photography, how can we not equally love the couples and engagement photoshoots? This is the best time where we really get to know our clients.

As the popular saying goes, home is where the heart is, this holds true for Jane and Cutty. Jane currently resides in Central Valley attending college while Cutty lives in San Franicsco Bay Area, sufficient to say, they don’t often see each other. Rather than having a particular special spot or place, to them, any place is fine so long as they are together. We happened to have done a photoshoot earlier in the day when we decided to meet-up at the picturesque California State University East Bay to do their Signature Love Portraits.
