Ana + Jeff | St. Catherine of Siena, Grand Hyatt at Burlingame Wedding

What they say about absence making the heart grow fonder must be true because that reads like Ana Dela Cruz and Jeff Lee’s story. Introduced by mutual friends, Erwin Alvaro and Eileen Galang, they hit it off instantly with similar interests such as going to the beach (as San Francisco weather permits), swim, travel, watch movies, hang out with friends and family, and are your typical foodies looking for the next best Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, or Filipino foods. But things got serious when they spent three-year apart in 2006 and Ana had left to live in Hong Kong. Fate brought her back in 2009 and also brought her and Jeff together again. Sometimes it takes a life-changing conversation with your closes friends to come to realizations, much like the conversation Jeff had with his closes friends. It was then he revealed to them that his New Year’s Resolution was to reunite with Ana and so he called her and asked her to meet with him. They met on one of their favorite beaches and spent hours talking. Talking led to mending old wounds and to a rekindling of a romance that was meant to be. A day after Jeff’s birthday in 2009 did he realize that Ana was the one. Carefully planning and waiting, he finally popped the question on one knee at Rockaway Beach after a San Francisco Giant’s baseball game and as they say, the rest is history.

Both the bride and groom and their bridal party got ready the beautiful Grand Hyatt at Burlingame which overlooks the San Francisco Bay with San Francisco International Airport nearby. Their Catholic wedding ceremony was held at the equally beautiful St. Catherine of Siena witnessed by their family and friends. They’re wedding reception was held at the Grand Hyatt at Burlingame. Ana Dela Cruz and Jeff Lee’s wedding was another AMAZING wedding we had the honor and pleasure to photograph. There were a number of familiar faces as we photographed their good friend’s, Melanie and Wesley’s, wedding a couple months back.

And as we’ve been doing lately, I always like to take a moment and mention what we used as our wedding gear for other photographers or anyone else that is interested. The equipment listed is what we actually used for this wedding. For the shots I took, the cameras I used were a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II and Canon EOS 1D Mark II with various combinations of lenses that include the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, and Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM. Eric Lee used the two same cameras with a Canon EF 20-35mm f/2.8L, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, and Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM. Between Eric and I, we used a total of 5 Canon Speedlites at various time and in various combinations with Quantum Turbo packs for power. Lynn Truong used a Nikon D700 with Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED, Nikon AF 85mm f/1.4D, Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, Nikon SB-900, and Nikon SU-800. Rendy Lai used a Nikon D300 with the same lenses and Speedlights that Lynn used. We also used an Epson P-6000 for backup. On the fly slideshow at the wedding reception was created on my MacBook Pro 15.4″ i7. We only trust SanDisk memory cards to store wedding photos we shoot.
