I had the esteem pleasure of photographing the 3rd Annual Safe Communities Reentry Council Summit at the Novellus Theater (a part of the Yerba Center for the Arts) for my office. For those who aren’t aware, the Reentry Council is:
The mission of the Safe Communities Reentry Council (SCRC) is to promote the safe and successful return of formerly incarcerated individuals to our community by developing a comprehensive support system that reduces violence and recidivism, and promotes public safety. From SFPublicDefender.org

The event was a huge success with over four hundred plus attendees with speakers rangings from Public Defender Jeff Adachi, District Attorney Kamala D. Harris, District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, Sherrif Michael Hennessey, and special keynote speaker Joey Ray Lucero from Homeboy-Industries. Joey Ray Lucero is the second-in-command of Homeboy-Industries and also an actor who recently starred opposite The Rock in Gridiron Gang. Father Greg Boyle, founder, has done amazing work with Homeboy-Industries and reentry in general, be sure to check out their website for more information.
The Novellus Theater is definitely a theater in that lighting for photography and videography is very challenging. To the human eyes, it’s not a problem, but camera sensors are no where as advanced as our eyes are. Here are some of the pictures, the rest can be seen at SFReentry.com.
